# Creating Registrations & Protocols

Veeva Disclosures allows sponsors to centralize and streamline the clinical disclosure management process by accelerating registry submissions and improving compliance across global regulations. Each [_Disclosure_](/en/lr/780440/) record must have an associated _Registration_ record and, optionally, a _Protocol_ record.

## Creating Registrations {#creating-registrations}

To create _Disclosure_ records for a _Study,_ you must have a _Registration_ record for the registry you will submit the _Disclosure_ to. A _Study_ record can only have one _Registration_ record for a supported registry. While a _Study_ only has one _Registration_ record per registry, each _Registration_ record displays all _Disclosures_ generated for a _Study_ for the specified registry.

To create a _Registration_ record:

1. Navigate to the **Registrations** tab.
2. Click **Create**.
3. Select a **Registration Type** from the drop-down and click **Continue**.
4. In the dialog, select a **Study**.
5. Optional: Select a **Study Country**.
6. Optional: Enter the **Registry Trial Identifier**.
7. Select a **Disclosure Scope** from the drop-down menu. **Registration only** allows Vault to automatically generate _Registration_ type _Disclosure_ records. **Registration and Results** allows Vault to automatically generate _Registration_ and _Results_ type _Disclosure_ records. Vault does not automatically generate any type of _Disclosure_ records when you select **Not Disclosed**.
8. Optional: Select a **Reason for Disclosure**.
9. Optional: Enter a **Reason for Disclosure Comment**.
10. Click **Save**.

Once you create the _Registration_ record, you can [create a _Disclosure_](/en/lr/780440/#creating-disclosures).

## Creating Protocols {#protocol}
The _Protocol_ object allows you to save time and improve efficiency by capturing key study protocol details, tracking changes between protocol versions, and populating consistent data into all _Disclosure_ records for a study.

To create a **Protocol** record:

1. Navigate to the **Protocols** tab.
2. Click **Create**.
3. Select a **Study** to associate the record to.
4. Enter a **Name**.
5. Optional: Complete any other desired fields.
6. Click **Save**.

You can view _Protocol_ records in the _Protocol_ tab or in the _Protocol_ section of associated _Study_ records, when configured.

You can fill out several optional fields when creating or editing _Protocol_ records, such as the _Protocol Document_ field. The _Protocol Document_ field allows you to link existing protocol documents in Vault.

Once you create a _Protocol_ record, you can create a new _Disclosure_ record referencing the _Protocol_. When you select a _Protocol_ record for a new _Disclosure_ record, upon creation, Vault prepopulates the new _Disclosure_ record with data from the _Protocol_ record.

Note: Data in Protocol records data will only populate into US Protocol Registration disclosures.

Selecting the _Copy Entire Protocol_ action duplicates an existing _Protocol_ record, including all linked items and translated records. Any fields populated from the selection of records on the _Protocol_ remain the same when the records are updated on a copied _Protocol_.
