Veeva creates and assigns Universal Site Numbers (USNs) to Research Sites interacting with certain Veeva applications to store site specific information. USNs are unique identifiers, for example ‘US-KS-54842’.
Note: Only Research Sites interact with USNs through Veeva applications. Sponsors and CROs do not interact with USNs directly.
When a site enters their USN, Vault reuses the site’s data across different studies for various sponsors and CROs. USNs also enhance document and data exchange for Site Connect when the site has SiteVault. A Research Site can receive a USN through a self-service request during Feasibility Surveys, by creating a Site Address in Site Connect, or through automatic assignment when signing up for SiteVault.
When a site requests a new USN, the site must provide the First Name, Last Name, and Email for a contact, in addition to the required site information. Veeva reviews the USN application, either approves or rejects the request, and notifies the provided contact of any USN application status updates through email within two business days.
Veeva assigns USNs to Research Sites, which we define as an Institution type Organization records within Vault. This includes each department or distinct operational research unit within a hospital or Academic Medical Center, an individual site within a Site network, or any independent Research Site. This allows you to select these Research Sites as Study Sites within Veeva Clinical Operations. This method ensures more accurate reporting across Stored Responses from Surveys and easier management of Locations in the Global Directory through Site Addresses in Site Connect.
